Develop From the Negatives
Develop From the Negatives
Today I’m writing in a special place. We left town this week to celebrate my husband’s birthday in Pawley’s Island area near Litchfield Beach. Not only are we celebrating a birthday but also my mother’s death day. It’s been 2 years since my mom crossed to the other side unexpectedly.
This time of year always stimulates self-reflection. I’ve taken this time each year to celebrate life, in memory of my mom. One of her favorite times with my children she told me was a beach trip. With Lupus, the sun made her very sick for weeks after, but she said it was SO worth it. So, that is how we are celebrating her life, at the beach playing and bonding together as she would want us to be.
We’ve never been to Pawley’s Island before so we’re having the best time discovering new places and enjoying the quiet beaches. As I stare out the window right now watching the waves crash in, I feel so much gratitude for all the negatives we have experienced.
How could we know what we want, without the contrast of experiencing what we don’t want?
By that I mean, missed opportunities, deals that went bad, horrible bosses, starting businesses, difficult employees, money problems, marital stress, death, physical challenges…I mean you name it, we’ve all been through some form of negative situation. this contrast allows you to launch a new desire and decide from that point forward what you’d like to include or attract into your life now.
How often do we take the opportunity to feel gratitude for the negatives?
Instead of regret or disappointment, the negatives can also be a cause for celebration.
Often some of the worst trials or toughest situations in our lives turn out to be the best lessons and cause the most growth. We did bring them into our lives for a reason, now didn’t we? Usually, it’s for “contrast.” How can it be SO good without knowing how it feels to be bad…
We become stronger for having gotten through the negatives and always grow spiritually and emotionally as well.
None of us want the negatives in our lives, but if we choose not to dwell on them and instead allow them to develop our character and become a better version of ourselves, they might just start looking like positives!
We do develop from the negatives, now don’t we?
With so much appreciation for you, especially for taking the time to read today.
Sunshine and suntans,
